Predictive think-tank: the future of the Internet – 2020 scenarios

Over the past 30 years, the Internet and Open Source have established themselves as the main drivers of the digital revolution... Globalization, the long tail, collective intelligence, digital natives, democratic transparency... have all fundamentally turned society, economic models and the geo-strategic equilibrium upside down. Even so – from the ‘Internet of Things’ to 'Context-aware Computing' – how they develop in the future could speed up the way the world changes even more. What might or will tomorrow’s Internet look like? Should we be anticipating a linear evolution of current trends? Or could alternative scenarios come to light? What role with Open Source play? Above and beyond short-term trends, this forward-looking summit meeting will be dedicated to painting the long-term picture and exploring the possible scenarios around 2020. Its aim is to evaluate both the risks and the opportunities, and to develop recommendations that businesses, as well as individuals and communities can take into account in our policies today, to prepare for tomorrow.
